Hot on the heels of Lost actress Maggie Grace joining The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn as vampire Irina comes news of the casting announcement Twilight fans have been anxiously awaiting for.
According to EW, 9-year old Mackenzie Foy is on the verge of signing on to play the Bella and Edward offspring Renesmee. She would potentially be one of multiple actresses to play the part of the human/vampire mix that will age into her teen years within Breaking Dawn’s time frame.

While Mackenzie is no household name like Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, she does have a scrap of acting experience under her belt. You may remember her from the short-lived television series FlashForward and ‘Til Death where she appeared in a lone episode of each.

Based on the pic above it’s clear Mackenzie looks the part. An official announcement or confirmation of her casting is expected to come down the pipe shortly.

A producer of The Twilight Saga has revealed that the vampire trilogy was at one stage considered for the basis of an action movie.

Speaking to Hollywood Life, Mark Morgan revealed that after securing the rights to Stephenie Meyer’s books, which were adapted into movies starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, it was initially difficult to secure investment for the film.

Morgan said that Paramount had originally been interested in releasing the franchise. However, he explained: “It was a blessing that Summit [chose to do the move], because frankly, Paramount would have chosen a different director. Their rewrite wasn’t exactly like the book.

“I love Paramount, but I do not think they would have hired Catherine [Hardwicke], our first director. They would have gone for someone bigger. Boys. More action.

“I mean, one of their drafts literally had a Korean FBI agent who was hunting and tracking vampires across the coast. There was SWAT in the trees and literally it was like, ‘Red leader, read leader one?, and the vampires were picking them out of the woods. It would have been a different movie.”

Commenting on how the film would have been received had it departed from the original story of the relationship between teenager Bella Swann and vampire Edward Cullen, Morgan said: “[The fans] would have killed us. They would have stoned us.”

Despite the continued popularity and rush for film studios to make everything in three dimensions, “Breaking Dawn” — both Part 1 and Part 2 — will not be shot in 3-D.

Gossip Cop broke the news via a source at Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the mega-successful franchise. “Neither film is being shot in 3-D,” the source told the site, adding that any other buzz from the rumor mill was “fabricated.”

A rep from Summit confirmed the story to MTV News.

Although the two parts of “Dawn” will not be filmed in 3-D, this does not mean that post-production 3-D effects and/or conversion won’t be added. It is reportedly too early in production for the studio to make that call.

We already know that a few of the castmembers would be up for a few 3-D elements. Kristen Stewart told MTV News in June that Bella in 3-D would be “awesome.”

“I’m probably speaking out of line or whatever, but I think it would be awesome,” she said. “Nobody knows what it’s like to look through the eyes of a vampire. What if [Bella] opens her eyes to this extraordinary world? It could be cool.”

Taylor Lautner seemed a bit more cautious about such an ambitious approach.

“Usually, 3-D is best when it takes you into another world,” he explained. “I could see it going both ways. As long as we have the story line down and as long as we bring what was written on the pages in the book to life, then we’ll be fine no matter what we do.”

What do you think about “Breaking Dawn” not going 3-D? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

Taylor Lautner, who flaunted his rippling 8-pack abs in Twilight: New Moon and Eclipse, will be shirtless again in his new action film, Stretch Armstrong.

“Wardrobe is actually not going to supply him with a shirt,” screenwriter Nick Stoller joked to NBC NY. “There’s not going to be a shirt option.”

In Stretch Armstrong, Lautner, 18, plays an action hero based on the buff and shirtless Hasbro toy. Despite how ripped Taylor was in New Moon and Eclipse, Stoller says he’ll be even more muscular in Stretch, thanks to special effects.

“Most of the visual effects money is going into adding even more abs,” he laughs. “It’s actually going to be a little gross.”

Lautner, who spent the summer filming the action thriller Abduction in Pittsburgh, will play Stretch Armstrong with a less sinister tone than previous action heros like Batman or the Incredible Hulk.

“It’s’ definitely going to be more Iron Man than Dark Knight, ” says Stoller. “It’s a little bit outside my genre. It’s not really a comedy. It’s an action super hero movie.”

Stretch Armstrong comes out in Spring 2012. Meanwhile, Taylor is set to begin shooting Breaking Dawn Part I in November 2010.

For instance, both Robert Pattinson (“Edward Cullen”) and Taylor Lautner (“Jacob Black”) were nominated for “Iconic Movie Actor” and “Iconic Male Star” while Kristen Stewart (“Bella Swan”) and Dakota Fanning (“Jane”) are both nominated for “Iconic Movie Actress.” Kristen Stewart is also nominated for “Iconic Female Star,” and Taylor Lautner is nominated for “Icon of the Year.”

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is nominated for “Iconic Movie,” and more nominations related to Twilight are also listed on the site.

While this is the magazine’s first set of awards, J-14 has been around for quite a while. According to their site, voting is open until 12:00 p.m. EST on September 21st.

Since the polls for this are open to public voting, chances are the Twilight group will walk away with at least a few of these. If there’s anything Twilight fans can be counted on, it’s getting busy on voting for their favorite Twilight stars in these sort of awards (examples: MTV Movie Awards, Teen Choice Awards, etc.). Guess it’s time to get started with this group of awards, too!

Back in July, it was revealed that production for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 would take place in both Baton Rouge, Louisiana as well as Vancouver, British Columbia.

A few weeks later, Production Weekly announced that the film “ha[d] opened up new production offices in Baton Rouge, [and] filming is scheduled from November 1 – March 15.” Soon after, the site specified that the film had “opened up their Vancouver production offices at North Shore Studios.”

Now, Production Weekly has offered up an even finer detail, stating that the movie “will relocate production from Baton Rouge up to Vancouver on January 11th.”

Earlier this month, local news coverage from Louisiana indicated that officials in the area were already readying themselves for Breaking Dawn’s production and that the general understanding of plans in place was that Baton Rouge would serve as a filming location for mostly indoor sequences.

Vancouver was the filming location for both The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and local native Christine Kilpatrick visited the production offices at North Shore and potential other locations for Breaking Dawn recently and posted that “‘I wanted to know when they would be back at that location and they said ‘January.’”

Also, information on the Breaking Dawn set visit being auctioned off for charity (which has reached a whopping $41,100+, bid by the way) indicates that the opportunity will be for a trip which takes place “between February 1, 2011, and the end of March 2011, when the crew is filming on the Vancouver set. The specific date within this range will be determined based on the film’s production schedule and winning bidder’s availability.”

In other words, Production Weekly’s latest information definitely fits within those parcels which were already known. So, it seems that the Twilight crew will be heading outdoors in the very cold season of Vancouver afterall.

Breaking Dawn – Part 1′s release date is November 18, 2011, while Breaking Dawn – Part 2′s release date is set for November 16, 2012.

IMDb.com has also added a synopsis for Part 1 that reads as follows: “The Quileute and the Volturi close in on expecting parents Edward and Bella, whose unborn child poses different threats to the wolf pack and vampire coven.”

The movies are being filmed together, and Bill Condon is directing both (while Stephenie Meyer, Wyck Godfrey, and Karen Rosenfelt are producing both). Several casting announcements for each are expected in the near future, and wardrobe fittings have already begun for the movie as well, according to Peter Facinelli (“Carlisle Cullen”). Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg is writing both scripts (as she has with Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse), and she recently issued a Facebook update which indicated that things were going really well between herself and Condon.

Taylor Lautner (“Jacob Black” in the Twilight Saga films) was spotted at the Pittsburgh Steelers’ first game of the season at Heinz Field against the Atlanta Falcons yesterday, supporting the home team (he’s from Grand Rapids, Michigan) on an off-day from filming Abduction.

This isn’t the first time Taylor Lautner has shown support for the Steelers. Back in August, Lautner showed up for the Steelers’ first pre-season game against the Detroit Lions as well.

Lautner has been working on Abduction, his first leading role outside of Twilight, since earlier this summer, and he was able to turn a sticky trailer situation positive by donating the proceeds of a consumer settlement to charity during production.

Lautner was probably pretty pleased with the Steelers’ performance, since they beat the Falcons 15 to 9.
